The record section below shows seismograms recorded on seismographic
stations spanning the contiguous United States. The seismograms are plotted
as a function of distance with stations close to the earthquake at the
top and more distant stations plotted at the bottom. Zero time corresponds
to the origin time of the earthquake. The station name is plotted to the right.
For large earthquakes, you can see several seismic arrivals that travel different
paths through the earth. Each trace is normalized to its maximum amplitude.
