Catalog Description and Data Format

Introduction

This seismological catalog is composed of the earthquake hypocenter determinations selected from "The Seismological Bulletin", issued by the Experimental-Methodical Expedition of the Institute of Physics of the Earth, Russian Academy of Sciences, at Obninsk, Kaluga Region, Russia.
The catalog covers the period from 01.01.1983 up to now and includes earthquakes occurred in the territory of Russia with magnitude M >= 4.5 (for the Far East M >= 5.0) and in other countries of Asia and Europe with M >= 5.5.

Seismological Catalog consists from the event set:

     Event_1 Event_2 ... Event_N

There are 3 record types, which all represent one event:

Record_type
(internal code)
Record_identification
(for manual pages only)
Relative_name
(for manual pages only)
1 Epicenter line Head
2 Magnitude line Magn
8 Comments Comm

Each record is 80 bytes long.
